Mazars host annual Corporate Finance Forum in Leeds
Mazars, the integrated and independent international organisation specialising in audit, accountancy, tax and consulting services has hosted colleagues from across the UK and Europe at the annual Corporate Finance Forum, which was held in Leeds for the first time.
The two-day event, at the Crowne Plaza in Leeds city centre, brought 40 representatives from Mazars’ UK corporate finance team together with colleagues from France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Ireland. The event is focused on encouraging and facilitating more international deals by bringing together the firm’s top M&A advisers to share deal opportunities and market insight.
Three guest speakers were invited to provide specialist information and understanding of the wider issues faced in international corporate transactions. Speakers from a national UK law firm shared their knowledge on international trade laws, a European debt provider shared guidance on European funding options and a large European acquisitive business discussed its acquisition strategy in the UK.
The Corporate Finance team from Mazars based in Leeds has also been active having recently completed the sale of North East based JBT Waste Services Limited to German waste management group Remondis (part of the multinational 12 billion euro turnover Rethmann Group), the sale of high quality precision engineering firm SPAW Engineering Limited to the Shield Group and the sale of Glasgow based food supplier Scotch Frost to the Japanese £38bn agricultural cooperative, Zen-Noh.
Oliver Hoffman, head of corporate finance at Mazars, said: “This year’s Corporate Finance Forum was a great success and was brilliantly attended by my colleagues in the UK and abroad. We continue to enjoy strong deal activity, particularly with deals involving an international flavour, and it is great to share our experience and learn from our European counterparts. As a firm, our aim is to help our clients connect with buyers and sellers internationally and the event proved to be a very positive instigator of this.
“Leeds is a strong player on the international business map and we chose to host the forum here to demonstrate to our European colleagues just how vibrant the city is.”
