Amadeus and Beringea-backed ContactEngine appoints new Chairman to steer US expansion

A London-based tech firm backed by two of the most recognisable names in venture capital has appointed a new Chairman to help spearhead its international growth.

ContactEngine, the communications and customer contact business, has appointed former Seibel Systems Europe head Bob Mann as its Chairman, replacing former Chair Philip Kimberley who will remain as non-executive board director.

Mann, who is also the current chairman at transatlantic Software as a Service (SaaS) business Relayware, will head up the business’ US expansion after the firm secured £2m in funding from Beringea and Amadeus.

A serial entrepreneur, Mann has steered a similar course for three other tech firms, including Relayware, in expanding tech businesses into the US market.

ContactEngine’s platform already counts the Sky and Whirpool as users, allowing businesses to automate elements of their customer contact efforts across email, SMS and telephone.

Dr. Mark K. Smith, Chief Executive Officer and founder of ContactEngine, said: “Firstly I must thank the outgoing Chairman Philip Kimberley for his diligence and support over the last few years.

“Having him remain on the board will allow for continuity as we enter into an ambitious growth phase. I am very pleased that we were able to attract a chairman of the calibre of Bob Mann as a successor.

“Bob has very valuable experience as we seek to expand and grow the business, and his knowledge of the North American market is particularly helpful as our expansion in the U.S. begins.”
