£300k Benton nursery regeneration to create 14 new jobs

Family-run firm North East Childcare has invested more than £300k to regenerate a former nursing home into a 5 place nursery in the centre of Benton village.

Assisted by TEDCO Business Support, the emergence of Evolution @ Solway House is expected to create 14 jobs in the upcoming 12 months, taking total staffing levels to 20 people for the company.

The site will provide care from children aged from birth to 5 years of age as well as offering holiday clubs to older children and drop in community classes.

The nursery, which is a franchise of Evolution Childcare, has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the children in its care with the look and feel of a hotel for kids.

Bobby Vij, director at North East Childcare said: “It has been a huge task to get this far as we really wanted to create something very special, which is why we have invested so heavily in both the look and feel of the place but also in deciding to team up with Evolution Childcare who are renowned, award winning experts in preschool care.

“Our experienced team of childcare professionals will be a fantastic asset to the nursery and they are hugely excited to be working within such an amazing setting.”

Bill Hartshorne, business adviser at TEDCO, added: “Working with Davinder and Bobby and the rest of the family has been hugely rewarding for me.

“I have helped so many different businesses of all shapes and sizes to get off the ground but this has been a really exciting project which I’m delighted to have been involved with.

“The sheer quality of what they have created is such an achievement and they are clearly committed to both the care of their children and the success of the business which will ensure they can continue to reinvest and maintain the high standards they have set.”
