Avecto supports Manchester students at Christmas markets

Budding student entrepreneurs will sell their products at Manchester’s Christmas markets in their first Young Enterprise selling event supported by Avecto.

Students from more than 36 Greater Manchester schools, colleges and education centres will be vying to sell a range of handmade gifts, cards, and other presents to the City’s shoppers on Wednesday 7th December. With trading starting at 11am, the teams will be selling their stock to generate income to develop their businesses further.

The young people taking part in this year’s market have set up and started to run their own companies with the help of business mentors as part of the Young Enterprise Company Programme that inspires Greater Manchester’s next generation of entrepreneurs.

Through the support of Young Enterprise, the students will develop eight key employability skills that will benefit them in their future careers. These skills being communication, confidence, organisation, team work, problem solving, financial capability, resilience, and initiative.

Interim North West Area Manager for Young Enterprise, Anthony Brown said: “At Young Enterprise we are firm believers that young people ‘learn by doing’ and for over 50 years’ countless young entrepreneurs have been inspired to start their own businesses through taking part in our Company Programme and other initiatives.

“The real-life experience of selling their products and engaging with customers offered through the Christmas market is a superb way to start their entrepreneurial journey.”

Ben Audley, VP of sales UK & Ireland at Avecto said: “Having been involved with Young Enterprise as a regional board member for the past two years, it’s always incredibly rewarding to see young people embracing opportunities and for their business ambitions to become a reality. As a city, Manchester is well known for its entrepreneurial spirit and the Young Enterprise Company Programme is a fantastic way to keep that legacy going. Avecto is very proud to champion young people in business and to support the Christmas market for a second year. I would encourage anyone to stop at the market next Wednesday and show their support.”
