Digital staffing platform inploi officially launches in London

The staffing platform that has its sights set on becoming London’s jobs marketplace, inploi, has now officially launched after spending three months in beta.

Founded by twenty-something entrepreneurs Matthew de la Hey and Alex Hanson-Smith, the app has now launched its Android app along with an updated iOS app following its soft launch in July.

The platform, which already handles the staff recruitment for Deliveroo and Edwardian Hotels, allows hospitality and service workers to search for jobs through its marketplace, get paid through the app and receive a rating from the employer depending on their performance.

Billed as LinkedIn for the service industry, the startup aims to be both the go-to place for hospitality workers looking for jobs and a virtual resume for staff in a notoriously insecure sector.

Speaking to the founders back in August following the beta launch, Matthew de la Hey outlined the London-based startups ambitions: ““In the long term we are working to build a global tech company providing the go-to marketplace for people looking for work, and for employers looking for quality staff across a range of industries.

“We want to fundamentally alter the way people go about structuring their working lives, creating a more open and equal economy.

“On one level we are working to create a LinkedIn for the service economy, providing people in what are often informal sectors with a credible, transferable profile that acts as a virtual resume empowering them to access more and better opportunities.”

Inploi launched following a £200k seed funding round and the pair revealed back in August that the business is now eyeing up further funding to support its roll out across the UK.

Following today’s official launch, CPO Alex Hanson-Smith added: “Marketplace products are difficult to get right. Staffing, at every level, is something almost every industry has trouble with, incumbent players and new entrants are missing the point in an underserved part of the economy.

“Our product objective is to provide our users with all the information and tools they need to make smarter career or hiring decisions, and fundamentally change the way staffing in the service economy works.”
