Artisan coffee brand launches eleventh outlet at Whitechapel coworking space

London-based coffee house the Department of Coffee and Social Affairs is to open its eleventh venue in the capital in Whitechapel.

The independent chain, which also has outlets in Spitalfields Market and Piccadilly, has taken the commercial unit at The Office Group’s (TOG) 133 Whitechapel High Street flexible workspace.

Located between Aldgate and Aldgate East Underground stations, the 1,167 sq ft site will open in mid-December and will be open seven days a week, taking advantage of the surge in new businesses and associated regeneration in the Whitechapel area.

Commenting on the new opening, Department of Coffee and Social Affairs Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Lopez said: “This is another opening in an iconic location in Central London. Whitechapel is plentiful in its history and culture and with the influx of start up businesses and residential properties to the area, it is an ideal location for our new coffee shop.

“We know this is an area of London that is thriving and we are excited to have the opportunity to be a part of its future growth.”

The Department of Coffee’s addition to TOG’s Whitechapel space complements the 30,000 sq ft of workspace contained within the building, which includes private offices, co-working spaces and meeting rooms.
