M-Files named ECM visionary by Gartner

M-Files Corporation, a provider of solutions that dramatically improve how businesses manage documents and other information, today announced the company has been recognised as the only vendor to appear in the Visionaries quadrant in Gartner, Inc.’s 2016 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management1.

According to Gartner’s 2016 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management, “The dynamics of the global ECM market are changing. As a practice, ECM is evolving into a strategic framework for services that target specific use cases and audiences… Gartner has responded to these new dynamics by refining its definition of ECM to emphasise a more flexible approach and by stiffening the criteria that determine whether vendors qualify for inclusion in this Magic Quadrant.”

The report also states that, “The ECM market grew by 9.4 per cent in 2015 to a worldwide revenue total of $5.9 billion in constant currency. That compares with a 2014 growth rate of 6.2 per cent and a worldwide revenue total of $5.4 billion.”

“M-Files brings an entirely new, modern approach to managing information, one that focuses on context, and ‘what’ information is rather than ‘where’ it’s stored,” said Greg Milliken, vice president of marketing of M-Files Corporation. “This is a whole new way to organise, process, secure, retain and dispose of information, and we believe it fits perfectly with Gartner’s recast definition of ECM. It’s not just about cloud or mobile, although they’re certainly a part of it, it’s about quickly finding the information that is most relevant to the task at hand. And since this varies across the organisation and changes over time, rather than a static, top-down folder hierarchy, it’s highly dynamic and personalised. This represents a fundamental shift that breaks down information silos and barriers to productivity and user adoption. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’ve been recognised as the only vendor in the Visionaries’ quadrant by Gartner right when they’ve redefined ECM to emphasise these very attributes.”

M-Files experienced strong growth in 2015 that far exceeded that of the overall industry as well as other prominent ECM and EIM vendors, and the company is on pace to continue this rate of growth in 2016 and beyond. A surge in demand for cloud-based solutions led to a dramatic 56 per cent increase in SaaS revenue year over year. The company also saw strong growth in its channel network, which now includes nearly 500 hundred partners in more than 100 countries around the world. Contributing to the global momentum, M-Files saw significant revenue growth in all three main geographic regions, including the United States, Europe and Asia.
