One of the UK’s oldest pubs hits the market in Cheshire

A Cheshire drinking hole with a history dating back to the 17th Century has come to market after current husband and wife owners have decided to sell the property.

The Holly Bush Inn in Little Leigh has been operating as a privately owned public house since 1993, after it was converted from its previous use as a working farm with roots stretching back to 1635.

The Grade II listed barn and pub was converted by current owners Barry and Maureen Lloyd into a pub after the pair purchased the property 20 years ago, building upon the small bar that was already on the site.

As part of the work, the Lloyds transformed three buildings to encompass 14 en-suite letting rooms, while the original farm building was extended to create a 58 cover dining area.

Lesley Watmough from Fleurets commented: “Since 1998, the couple have chosen to run the property under management. Turnover for 2016/2017 shows a consistent and healthy turnover of approximately £423,000 and £443,000.

“This is a profitable business and accounts are available to seriously interested parties. I anticipate a great deal of interest for this superb business.”

The property is currently being marketed with an asking price of £895,000.
