BEF investment pumps life into health industry expert’s new Ossett-based business
A health industry expert has launched an independent healthcare service provider in Ossett.
With years of experience in different roles within the health industry, Paul Caffrey decided to start his own business, Heart Medical, which provides medical support for events, patient transport and first aid training courses.
The startup costs of Heart Medical was supported by finance from the Business Enterprise Fund (BEF).
Paul has now acquired a fleet of fully equipped ambulances and a wide range of training equipment. This investment has secured Heart Medical contracts with a wide range of customers in the public and private sector.
The business has also received a large amount of interest for delivering first aid training to businesses across the region.
John, Hall, the BEF investment manager who assisted Paul with raising the finance his business needed, said: “Paul’s experience in the sector made for a strong business case.
“With his knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses across different departments, he has been able to start his business with an advantage.
Paul commented: “I’m very glad to have had John at our side from the beginning. He was referred to us from our business advisor Kevin Newson and between them they’ve really pointed the business in the right direction. We wouldn’t be where we are now without them.
Heart Medical is further investing in infrastructure by purchasing specialist vehicles and equipment for 2017. The new company is also launching a specialist Pre-hospital training centre in January 2017, which will train students up to a Level 5 Diploma in Emergency & Urgent Care.
The team have also registered with the Armed Forces Covenant and Resettlement Services, meaning Paul will be able to train and employ ex-service personnel.
