A Leeds-based cocktail firm has appointed three new staff members to support the growth of the business.

Zest Mixology has employed Jack Bennett and Timmy Wright as event specialists and Emily Ratcliffe as an event administrator to work alongside managing director, Murdo MacLeod and the rest of the team.

These new appointments join office manager, Euan MacLeod, Charlotte Rendall, accounts manager, Ellie MacDonald, PR & communications specialist, Jade Woodfield as marketing manager and Farah who supports the firm’s HR & staffing.

Zest Mixology was established by Murdo MacLeod in 2011.

Timmy Wright has more than 10 years of industry experience in running pubs, bars and clubs and joins Zest Mixology as an event specialist. He will be working alongside Jack Bennett who also joins as an event specialist.

With bartending experience and experience gained from supporting a family business and undertaking internships, Jack has a strong events background and focuses on the operations and logistics within Zest Mixology.

Currently studying Events Management at Leeds Beckett University, Emily joins the team as an events administrator where she organises the administrative side of the events.

Bob Carney, Alan Woodard and Chris Brookes, McCarthy’s Removals and Storage

Leeds-based McCarthy’s Removals and Storage has appointed three new senior members of staff; Alan Woodard, Bob Carney and Chris Brookes.

Alan has 20 years’ experience in the removals industry, and will be taking the role of group operations manager. He began his career in 1995 as a trainee manager with Pickfords Removals, progressing to become the branch manager of its Leeds’ operation for over a decade, before joining McCarthy’s.

Alan’s new role sees him managing and overseeing the work undertaken by the removals teams across the group.

Bob joins McCarthy’s as commercial business development manager where he will work with existing clients and secure new commercial contracts within the self-store, Safe Shred and archive management areas of the business. Bob brings with him 40 years of to the role.

Finally Chris will join the business as financial controller, a position which will see him take over responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function whilst providing full financial and strategic support for the business. Chris joins McCarthy’s following a career in the finance sector working within businesses such as Moda in Pelle, Badgequo and Music Express Ltd.

The trio will be based at McCarthy’s head office on Meanwood Road, Leeds.

Richard Henley, Knight Frank

Property consultancy Knight Frank has strengthened its industrial property team in Yorkshire with the appointment of Richard Henley.

Richard joins Knight Frank from niche industrial agency Gent Visick in Leeds. He previously worked for Gerald Eve in Leeds.

Richard specialises in the disposal and acquisition of industrial, distribution and trade counter space, as well as commercial development opportunities in the Yorkshire region.

Andrew Rollo, George F. White

George F. White, the land, property and business consultancy, has appointed Andrew Rollo as head of energy.

As a chartered mechanical engineer, Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience across the energy, engineering and construction sectors.

He has a track record of establishing and managing multi-disciplined teams with proven ability to deliver multiple major infrastructure projects in challenging environments from concept to completion, to time and budget.

Key areas of Andrew’s expertise include energy portfolio management; design, construction and management of major mechanical and civil engineering projects, environmental permitting and overall process maintenance and improvement.

Mike Young, a partner at George F. White, said: “Andrew has vast experience in the industrial sector where he has demonstrated great acumen in managing large-scale projects delivered to time on a tight budget to secure maximum profitability.

Previous to his new role at George F. White, Andrew worked at a number of blue chip companies including Nissan Motor Manufacturing, Tarmac and Hope Cement Limited.

Andrew spent four years at Hope Cement where, as Engineering Manager, he was responsible for the optimisation of plant and machinery, managing the company’s energy portfolio to reduce cost and carbon footprint, the development of new green and brownfield sites throughout the UK and provision of engineering solutions to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Good Travel Management, the Hessle-based business travel company, has announced two key appointments to its leadership team.

Julie Ornsby has been appointed to the Good Travel Management board as operations director. Julie has over 20 years’ experience in the business travel industry including roles at BCD Travel and Inter-Continental Travel before joining Good Travel Management in 2009.

Wayne Durkin, who joins from Beacon Purchasing, where he was director of regional sales, takes up the role of head of sales, marketing and account management, with responsibility for the business development strategy and offerings to both existing and new clients.

Wayne has previously held senior roles with Meon Valley Travel, and Griffin Marine Travel.

Alex Guy, Switalskis Solicitors

Solicitor and Court of Protection Deputy, Alex Guy and has joined Yorkshire-based Switalskis Solicitors.

He will join as a director and head-up the firms’ specialist Financial Court of Protection team in their newly created Sheffield office.

Formerly a partner at HLW Keeble Hawson, Alex is one of only four specialist Deputies in Yorkshire appointed to the Court of Protection Deputy Panel to manage the property and financial affairs of someone who lacks mental capacity in often challenging circumstances.

The establishment of a new Financial Court of Protection team dovetails with the work already undertaken by Samantha Spain in Switalskis Court of Protection department based in Huddersfield.

Samantha works alongside clients and their families who require assistance with the management of compensation resulting from a claim or who are subject of proceedings in the Court of Protection.

This latest appointment follows the firms’ move into South Yorkshire last month which saw a significant expansion of the Clinical Negligence team, as well as the formation of a Brain and Serious Injury team – a new practice area for the firm.
