Gateshead’s Petards wins £2m Siemens order
Gateshead-based security firm Petards has won a £2m contract to supply train-related surveillance services to Siemens’ Mobility Division.
Under its global framework agreement with Siemens, Petards will fit its eyeTrain digital CCTV systems to new Desiro City Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) trains, which manufacturing and electronics giant is building.
The equipment to be supplied provides the trains and their drivers with enhanced capability in the areas of security and surveillance through CCTV coverage, both internal and external, of saloon areas combined with pantograph, forward facing and track debris monitoring.
Engineering activities will commence immediately with the first equipment deliveries to be made at the end of the first quarter 2017 and it is anticipated that the project will be completed during 2018.
Raschid Abdullah, Petards Chairman, said: “We are delighted that Petards has secured yet another key contract under the global framework agreement with Siemens.
“This provides us with yet another exciting rail project which further enhances our position in the rail industry and significantly strengthens the Group’s present order book for delivery in 2017 and 2018.”
