Take A #Sleighselfie At High Corn Mill
Skipton’s medieval High Corn Mill is inviting seasonal shoppers to take part in its Christmas competition for a bit of festive fun.
From December 1 up to Christmas Eve visitors to the 14th century mill are being encouraged to take a selfie with the sleigh in the building’s courtyard and share it online. Pictures will be entered into one of two categories: 14 and under, and over 14s.
Said owner, Andrew Mear: “This year we wanted to do something different and with smart phones and social media being such a big part of everyday life, we thought a selfie competition would be a great way to help get families into the Christmas spirit.”
All entrants need to do is upload their selfies onto Twitter using the hashtag #sleighselfie and tag @akapr1 before December 25. The two winning photos will be announced in January 2017. The winner of the under 14s will get a prize from The Present Planners in Craven Court and the over 14s will receive a voucher for Tom Sexton, a beauty salon based in the mill.
Originally built in 1310 to mill Skipton’s corn, High Corn Mill today houses a selection of retail, beauty and business tenants as well as the Waterwheel House, which features a 15 Kw crossflow water turbine, creating enough energy to power up to 20 homes around the local area via the National Grid.
