Thorpe Park Leeds secures three new tenants ahead of 2018 opening
The developers behind a new retail and leisure park in Leeds have secured three pre-lets from a trio of major high street names ahead of its opening next August.
Thorpe Park Developments Ltd (TPDL), which is currently developing Thorpe Park Leeds, has announced that M&S, TK Maxx and the Arcadia Group’s Outfit brand will all be taking space at the retail portion of the mixed-use scheme when it opens in Autumn 2018.
M&S will anchor the development along with Next after leasing a 13,000 sq ft store on the site which will include a new 40-seater cafe, and replace its existing store at nearby Cross Gates.
Meanwhile, the Arcadia Group have agreed to pre-let a 10,000 sq ft unit for its Outfit brand and TK Maxx has also signed on for its own 10,000 sq ft unit.
TPDL, which is a joint venture between Scarborough International Properties and Legal & General Capital, is transforming the current 800,000 sq ft business park into a 1.65m sq ft mixed-use scheme.
Plans include the addition of 300,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, along with a further 940,000 sq ft of Grade A office space after Legal & General Capital committed £162m to the project in August 2015.
Mark Jackson, at Scarborough International Properties commented: “We are delighted to announce these three significant deals for Thorpe Park Leeds following our agreement with Next Plc.
“M&S, Outfit and TK Maxx are all a very important part of the high quality retail and leisure offer for this landmark mixed-use scheme in Leeds, serving the local community and the 13,500 working population expected at Thorpe Park Leeds when it is fully built out. Additional lettings are in hand and we look forward to announcing these shortly.”
Work on the retail and leisure phase of the development is due to begin next summer.
