Radleigh welcomes Derby University students to Oaklands Park

A group of first-year students from the University of Derby paid a visit to Radleigh Homes’ new Oaklands Park development in Ashbourne recently to gain real-world experience of the building process.

18 students from the university’s BSC Quantity Surveying and Construction Management courses spent a morning at the new development, which is located on Wyaston Road in the town.

They were there to take a look at the progress of the building process, see the types of foundations used and practical examples of the health and safety measures that are put in place on a building site.

Oaklands Park is a stylish new development of 114 three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes located just a five-minute walk from the thriving Ashbourne town centre, and a stone’s throw from the rolling Derbyshire countryside.

The launch of the development follows the success of Radleigh’s hugely popular Saxon Fields scheme on Wyaston Road, which features a collection of three, four, and five-bedroom country properties, and 24 townhouses and apartments at Thornley Place on Town Street.

Speaking of the visit, Tom Finnegan, joint managing director at Radleigh Homes, said:

“Here at Radleigh we’re always keen to support the development of the construction talent of the future – so we were delighted when the University of Derby asked us if a group of their first year students could see the work being carried out at Oaklands Park.

“We’ve a very good relationship with the university and a number of our employees studied there, so it’s good to give something back when we can. We hope the students found the visit helpful as they prepare to embark on the second term of their degree course in the new year.”

Philip Hunt, Programme leader, BSc Hons Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at the University of Derby, added:

“I’d like to thank the team at Radleigh Homes for taking the time out of the busy schedules to give our students the inside track on what goes into the construction of a development of this kind.

“This sort of real-life experience is invaluable to our first year students, who only embarked on their degree courses a couple of months ago and will stand them in good stead as they progress through their studies.”

Over the past three decades Radleigh Homes has established an unrivalled reputation for combining stunning design with highly sought after locations to create vibrant communities.

The company participates in the government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme, which enables buyers to purchase a house with just a 5% deposit – making the aspiration of a new home achievable for many.

Homebuyers can also reserve their new home before they’ve sold their existing one with the innovative Radleigh ‘One Move’ initiative, alongside a part-exchange scheme.
