The firm which powers GoCompare's comparison engine snaps up mobile comparison site

Performance marketing and data company, Decision Tech, whose technology powers GoCompare and Confused.com’s comparison services, has announced the acquisition of mobile recycling comparison site CompareMyMobile.com.

The deal, which is for an undisclosed sum, complements the London-based business’ family of mobile handset recycling websites, which includes SellMyMobile.com, and its broadband comparison site BroadbandChoices.co.uk.

Decision Tech was backed by the Business Growth Fund to the tune of £10m in 2012, and since then has grown its portfolio of consumer-facing comparison sites, which the firm claims now makes it the UK’s ‘most used price comparison service’ for mobiles and gadgets.

The acquisition will mean CompareMyMobile becomes the group’s primary price comparison site for mobile handsets, tariffs and related service.

Decision Tech’s Chief Executive Officer Michael Philips, commented: “Comparemymobile.com will be a platform for our mobile product family. We will help consumers throughout the lifecycle of owning a smartphone.

“This acquisition also enriches our B2B data products, further strengthening our position as a performance marketing and data business in a time when our clients demand cost effective customer acquisition and real time intelligence to optimise decision making.”

Mark Nunny, a BGF investor who also sits on Decision Tech’s board, said: “Having completed two acquisitions within the space of three months, Decision Tech continues to demonstrate great momentum in executing its strategy.

“We are backing a team that is both driven and disciplined in its approach to identifying acquisition opportunities, and we are very much looking forward seeing the business scale even further over the next 12 months.”
