University of York's Information Centre undergoes £68k revamp
The Yorkshire office of Britcon, the building and civil engineering company, has completed a £68,000 refurbishment project for the Information Centre at the University of York.
Completed within just three weeks, the FastTrack project saw the Centre on the University’s Campus West stripped out, reconfigured and refurbished by Britcon with new floor finishes, ceilings, improved lighting and feature walls.
Britcon also procured and installed new furnishings to allow the Information Centre to become more efficient in how it manages the flow and handling of visitors as well as its image presentation and information display.
Gary Ashmore, head of estates development at the University of York, said: “This important reconfiguration and refurbishment project had to be completed in a very short timescale, in the heart of an occupied building which is located in one of the most publically visible and accessible parts of our Campus.
“The risk of things going awry was high but the Britcon team rose to the challenge, delivering a high quality end product on time and with minimum disruption to other building occupants. The University is delighted with the new space.”
Britcon recently completed major building and refurbishment projects for the University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield and Queen Ethelberga’s Collegiate. Other projects include Royds Hall School in Huddersfield, Roundhay Primary School in Leeds and Ward Green School in Barnsley.
Britcon has been established for more than 26 years and directly employs over 90 people. It is currently listed by the London Stock Exchange in its latest report of ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Europe’.
