Award win caps phenomenal year for On

Winning the Production Award at The Event Awards 2016 has capped a phenomenal 12 months for leading Midlands live events company On Event Production Co.

Since relocating from its premises in Long Eaton to new, purpose-built premises in Castle Donington at the end of October 2015, the company has gone from strength to strength – with the last trading year showing an increase in turnover of over 30% and the recruitment an additional nine members of staff.

The decision to relocate to a new 15,000 ft2 of facility on the Trent Lane Industrial Estate, which is twice the size of its previous accommodation, has enabled On to expand all areas of its operation, including its in-house fabrication department and dedicated roadshow division.

A funding award from the Derby Enterprise Growth Fund (DEGF) enabled the company to invest £340,000 in a range of new kit, including lighting units, video and audio equipment. Other recent investment highlights also include an additional £50,000 on a high level L-Acoustics KARA line array sound system, along with £44,000 on the upgrade and expansion of the company’s fleet of vehicles.

Over the past 12 months, the On team has worked on a whole host of exciting projects across the UK, including teaming up with the Walt Disney Company in July to stage the press conference for Finding Dory, one of the year’s most eagerly-anticipated films.

Other notable projects include the creation of a functioning theatre space on the Bull Ring’s Moor Street car park for high end department store Selfridges in Birmingham and transforming the Aircraft Restoration Company’s new ‘Stephenson Hangar’ at Duxford’s Imperial War Museum in Cambridgeshire into a giant events space ahead of its official launch.

On was also commissioned by Virgin Media Business to provide full production and the stage scenery for the grand finale of this year’s Virgin Media Business VOOM 2016 competition.

Several key appointments and promotions have also been made across the company throughout the year.

Senior production manager Adam Dewhurst was promoted to production director and is now responsible for managing a variety of live events, along with client liaison and budget management.

Adam took over the position left vacant by Chris Vernon-Smith, who assumed the newly created post of technical director. In addition, two new production managers are currently being recruited, which will enable the team at On to cope with a busy calendar of events in 2017.

Speaking of the company’s success this year, Guy Eaton, managing director of On Event Production Co, said:

“We always looked forward to an exciting year following our relocation, but 2016 has gone on to exceed all our expectations.

“Winning the Production Award at the national Event Awards 2016 was the highlight of a year which has seen us grow significantly, with a number of key appointments and promotions and the development of our portfolio and client networks.

“We’re now working hard on the next phase of our expansion and have some exciting plans for 2017.”

Since it was launched in 2004, On has established a reputation as one of the Midlands’ most creative production companies, with an unrivalled knowledge of the live events market and an established network of clients and suppliers across the UK.

The company provides production management and technical solutions for live events across the UK. Its talented team of production managers, designers and technicians and their vibrant approach enables them to provide tailored solutions that deliver outstanding results.
