Wigan Athletic Ladies Football Club nets sponsorship with logistics firm

Wigan Athletic Ladies FC are celebrating a new sponsorship deal for this season.

Ningbo Palletised Distribution, which sponsored the club last year, has committed to a further 12 months, with the firm’s logo appearing on the kit’s sleeves and shorts.

Wigan Athletic Ladies, the official women’s team and formally linked to the men’s Championship side, will put the £750 sponsorship towards new kit.

The team, which plays at Abraham Guest Academy, currently sits fourth in the league after making a strong start to the season.

Wigan Athletic Ladies first team manager Andy Ainscow, who played for Wigan Athletic, said: “Support from individuals and businesses play a crucial role in the running of the club.

“Not only does it provide a financial boost, it allows the fantastic people who work behind the scenes to concentrate on other tasks, including increasing attendance at games, sourcing new players, and organising events.

“To have Ningbo on board for another 12 months is brilliant and the money will help us buy kits for the players.

“We have made a solid start to the year and hopefully the Ningbo logo will be prominent as we lift silverware at the end of the season.”

Award-winning Ningbo Palletised Distribution, which offers a next day pallet delivery and collection service throughout the UK, also recently launched a dedicated nightly service to Dublin.

Ningbo’s managing director, Chris Stockton, said: “We’ve enjoyed our short partnership with Wigan Athletic Ladies FC, and look forward to this developing over the coming years.

“It was an easy decision for us to continue our sponsorship and we are always keen to support worthwhile projects.

“Everyone at Ningbo wishes the team well for the remainder of the campaign.”

Wigan Athletic Ladies’ most experienced current player Michelle Hunt said: “We are fortunate to have amazing support throughout the club, as well as from external partners including Ningbo.

“This allows the players to focus on match days without unnecessary distractions.”

Ningbo, which was formed in 1993, is part of the UPN and Palletline networks and employs 38 members of staff.
