Physical Performance takes exercise to the next level

Physical Performance based at Kenton Retail in Gosforth has officially opened for business and has pledged to offer bespoke training using the latest state of the art gym equipment and one on one attention from highly qualified personal trainers to get the region active in 2017.

Initially created with the emphasis on specialising as an injury and rehabilitation clinic, Physical Performance offers prescriptive exercise programs that are the referral choice of many doctors, chiropractors, and physiotherapists.

The business is building up quite a reputation for itself and is rapidly commanding respect as a leader in delivering personal training programmes for those with injuries, as well as for weight and fat loss, strength development, athletic development and total body conditioning.

Co owner and founder (along with his wife Rebecca) Will St Leger is head trainer at Physical Performance. Originally from Ireland, Will moved to Newcastle in 2009 where he quickly established himself as a leading trainer who focuses on attention to detail.

This is just one of the things that separates Will from a lot of coaches – he is passionate about correct lifting form and his emphasis on achieving nothing less than perfection is amongst the reasons why his clients come to lovehis workouts and routines.

Qualifying in 2004 as a personal trainer, Will has continued his development as a coach - placing a large emphasis on soft tissue therapies and rehabilitation strategies recognising that trainers can be very effective therapists by combining both practices. It is this combination that gives Physical Performance its niche.

From rehabbing hip replacements and knee surgery, to helping someone with chronic or acute back pain, to coaching professional athletes - Will has gained experience from working with a very diverse range of clientele whilst continuing to learn from the best coaches and doctors in their respective fields globally.

Says Will: “Fixing a body can take many different forms; depending on your needs, current training status and capabilities. It’s this approach that I use in the form of assessments, program designs and training execution that keeps my clients motivated weekly, monthly and yearly.”

The bespoke training programmes that all of the trainers at Physical Performance devise, are designed to give faster results with no plateaus - utilising a combination of free weights, resistance training, body weight exercises and lactic threshold training in an ever-evolving format.

Will continues: “If you have been doing the same exact workout for more than a few weeks, then your results are already stagnating. Our system is tailored to each individual, their needs and abilities. Nutritional guidance is included in all of our exercise programs.”

So, whether you want to improve fitness, lose weight, tone-up, build-up, rehab a sports injury, stop chronic pain, shape-up for a wedding or need postpartum reconditioning – Physical Performance will be able to design the right exercise program for you.

Add to this the fact that there are never any crowds waiting for equipment at Physical Performance as it’s a controlled, appointment only, one to one environment – and you might have to agree that this concept could be the way forward in terms of training and exercise.

Physical Performance also houses a coffee bar that supplies post training protein shakes, and stocks a range of supplements. They have also just begun their own ‘performance food’ sideline. Clean eating pre-prepared to takeaway!
