Assassin Promotions signs junior world title winner Alexei Collado
Alexei Collado, a 28-year-old Cuban featherweight and highly-decorated amateur boxer has signed with fast growing boxing promotional outfit Assassin.
The talented Cuban joins with great pedigree, having won a gold medal at the 2006 World Junior Championships and boasts wins over some big names in the amateur ranks, including recently crowned WBA super-flyweight world champion Kal Yafai.
In joining Assassin, Collado is targeting some big fights in 2017 and hopes to stake his claim in a division occupied by, amongst others Carl Frampton and Lee Selby. The orthodox fighter will be looking to recapture the form that has made him such a hot prospect, with his record to date putting weight behind the claim that he is a devastating puncher; 17 of his 19 wins coming by way of knockout.
Collado joins Assassin, hot on the heels of Josh Douglas, Vladimir Belujsky and Alfie Best, all set to make their debuts in early 2017 in what looks to be an action packed year for Assassin, with WBA international Light Heavyweight Champion JJ McDonagh possibly in line for a world title shot following his brutal first round knockout over Jake Ball on the Matchroom show at Wembley Arena in November.
Kaz Evans, Founder of Assassin Promotions said:
“This caps a fantastic year for Assassin and sets the tone for 2017, with some big shows already planned for early in the year. Boxing in Britain is growing at a ferocious pace and we’re well placed to offer boxers a great platform to take their career to the next level.”
Alexei Collado said:
“Assassin is doing some exciting things for boxers and I’m pleased to be joining a team of fighters who share my passion for the sport. I have always had a goal of winning a major title and hopefully with Assassin I can realise that dream.”
