Halifax property management firm creates new jobs with industrial drying service launch

Haven Building & Maintenance, the Halifax-based property management firm, has created three new jobs with the introduction of a new industrial drying service to market.

Specialising in dangerous structures, Haven played a major part in the repair and rescue work required in the aftermath of the floods last Christmas.

The launch of the drying arm of the business is in response to the emergency work required after the extensive water damage to properties in Calderdale and further afield during that time.

Malcolm Speak, managing director of Haven, commented: “We pride ourselves on both the maintenance and emergency sides of our business, and are always willing to dive into dangerous situations alongside the brave men and women in the emergency services.

“With that said, we want to be able to provide more for those hit by unfortunate events such as flooding.

“Having a drying team operating in house was our natural next step, ensuring that not only can we rescue homes and structures in the event of a disaster befalling them, but also work even more closely in the repair of that property.”

During the boxing day floods of 2015, local drying services struggled to cope with the demand of thousands of homes and businesses suffering extensive damage, with the deployment of army soldiers required for the worst hit areas.

In addition to the emergency response aspect of the business, Mr Speak said that the drying service will be of use to homeowners and business owners alike through the cold winter as problems such as mould and damp affect those most in need.

Mr Speak added: “We have to accept that, at this time, fuel poverty is a very real fact of life for people living across this country.

“The government’s work on installing new heating system for those struggling to pay their bills is a great step, but mould and damp are another result of having cold homes and can affect those living with respiratory conditions and children the most.

“Having an arm of the business helping to serve the people of Yorkshire is a great step forward for us and will have a positive impact on peoples’ lives.”
