Manchester-based online dating entrepreneur secures £30k investment
Online dating comparison site, queek’d, has received a £30,000 after its founder, Elisa McLean, pitched to a Norwegian investor.
Styled as a GoCompare-style site for dating websites, the Manchester-based startup has been backed by Ingvard Busengdal as it looks to expand in 2017 and build on partnerships it has established with big players including eHarmony and Match.com.
Launched in early 2016, queek’d asks users to complete a short personality quiz to help match them to a dating website that suits their needs and traits, and is already in the process of hiring new profile writers and experts to assist users in creating relevant online profiles.
Following the investment, Elisa said: “Being single myself I am now so passionate about helping other singles, which definitely came across when pitching to my investor. I was so pleased that Ingvard could see my vision and the investment will help us gain more users and allow us to plan for phase two which I’m really excited about.”
With more sites looking to join the likes of Elite Singles and Uniform dating on its platform, Elisa added that the investment will help queek’d prepare for its crowdfunding round where it hopes to raise a ‘large seed round’.
Elisa added: “It’s an exciting time for queek’d. There are a few sites that are looking to join queek’d in the next few months and we have several brand ambassadors on board who all support what we do.
“The investment we have received will help us develop the product further so we can reach even more users, and hopefully direct them to love and their future partners and soul mates.”
