'State-of-the-art' 24-hour refuelling site nears completion at Port of Liverpool
HGV drivers passing through the Port of Liverpool will soon be able to utilise a new state-of-the-art 24-hour refuelling station, with the facility set for its imminent opening.
Delivered in partnership with UK fuel distributor, Certas Energy, the ten-week project is located on formerly disused land near the port, where the facility will provide diesel, gas oil and AdBlue pumps and allow up to eight HGVs to refuel at the time same.
It is hoped the new station, which will open in early 2017 once pump and card reader tests have been completed, will help to reduce road congestion and eliminate unnecessary journeys by providing drivers with a convenient refuelling point.
A statement by Maritime Transport, whose drivers will directly benefit from the new facility, said: “The site is ideally located for us, as it’s just a few minutes’ drive from our Liverpool depot.
“This means that our drivers can fill up easily and not have to worry about filling up whilst en-route to their next job. The fact that fuel is pumped at 120 litres per minute means our drivers will be able to fill up in around three minutes.”
Andrew Martin, Group Land and Property Director for Peel Ports Group added: “It’s excellent to see the delivery of another key milestone in this project. This new facility will provide a convenient refuelling station for the haulage community when using our new Liverpool2 Container Terminal or any of our port facilities.
“We’ve enjoyed working with Certas Energy and look forward to an on-going partnership.”
