CPP completes deal on new Sheffield logistics centre leased to Amazon

Property consultancy Commercial Property Partners LLP has completed the acquisition of an urban logistics centre in Sheffield, which has been let to internet retailer Amazon UK Services Ltd.

The newly constructed centre is located 3 miles to the east of Sheffield city centre, close to J34 of the M1 and near to Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

The site area of 15.5 acres provides a low site density of approximately 22%, providing strong yard provision for Amazon’s operation.

CPP, which represented Oxenwood Real Estate in the deal, concluded the acquisition of the 134,400 sq ft unit from a private company for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition was made off market and will be the eighth asset acquired within the Oxenwood Catalina joint venture.

Amazon will be using the unit to service the surrounding Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire regions.

Roger Haworth, partner at CPP, said: “This acquisition marks the latest in a succession of completed sales by CPP in the Sheffield region.

“We’re very pleased to have worked with Oxenwood on this deal, which is a good indicator for the strength of the property market for urban logistics in South Yorkshire.”

Stewart Little, joint chief executive of Oxenwood, added: “The Group is delighted to have continued its acquisition drive and growth of its portfolio with the addition of a brand new ‘last mile/urban logistics’ centre occupied by one of the most exciting names in the sector.

“Urban logistics continues to drive innovation and we are delighted to own a new facility serving the UK’s 5th largest city.”
