Heather Lally and Daniel Lee, FDR Law

FDR Law, the full service law firm based in Warrington, has announced a pair of new hires to its team along with two internal promotions.

Clinical negligence expert, Daniel Lee, joins from Slater Gordon where he was a partner for the last three years specialising in cases involving spinal injury, brain injury and serious orthopaedic injury.

Heather Lally has also joined the law firm’s Frodsham office as an associate solicitor specialising in Wills, Trusts and Probate, having previously worked at Morecrofts Solicitors on the Wirral.

FDR has also announced two internal promotions, with Chris Illingworth of the firm’s conveyancing team becoming an associate solicitor, while paralegal Eleanor Wood has recently become a qualified corporate and commercial solicitor.

Mick Frankish, Grant Thornton

Business advisers Grant Thornton have appointed former KPMG veteran Mick Frankish as a partner at its North West practice.

The 41-year-old joins from the Big Four firm where he has worked since graduating from the University of Birmingham, having spent the last three years heavily involved in running KPMG’s Enterprise service, targeting fast growing mid-market business.

Carl Williams, North West Managing Partner at Grant Thornton said: “We are always looking to bring in talent, but to have attracted someone of Mick’s calibre is a fantastic coup for Grant Thornton in the North West. He is an outstanding, market-facing, client relationship audit partner and we are delighted to have him.

We have been looking for someone of his age and skill set for the last 18 months and it’s a great news that he has joined. I believe this is a clear sign of our confidence in the North West and the opportunities for us to grow here.”

Jonathan Brown, Cammell Laird

Birkenhead-based shipyard and engineering services firm Cammell Laird has appointed Jonathan Brown as its new Managing Director.

Brown, who joins from Rolls Royce where led its nuclear new build and projects group, will be charged with growing the company’s reach across nuclear, renewables and the oil and gas markets, drawing on his experience at major players including Serco, BNFL and AWE.

The firm’s Chief Executive Officer, John Syvret, commented: “Cammell Laird has a long-term plan to diversify into the energy markets and we are pleased that Jonathan has joined us to help spearhead our operations.

“Our aim is to become one of the prime contractors in Britain serving the energy industry. The programme to build 10 new nuclear power plants around the UK is a £100billion opportunity with decades of work.

“It is an excellent fit for our workforce, which has transferable skills, and our extensive engineering facilities. Dean Young, Lambert Smith Hampton

Dean Young has been appointed by Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) as a director to head up its Manchester industrial agency team.

Based out of the company’s Spinningfields office, Young brings over 30 years of experience in industrial property to the role having previously headed up North West industrial teams for Knight Frank, CBRE and Edward Rushton.

Matthew Scrimshaw, regional managing director of the North at Lambert Smith Hampton said: “Last year LSH’s industrial team was identified as being the UK’s most active industrial agents in Estates Gazette’s Annual Deals Competition. We have a strong team, but are keen to develop it even further.

“Dean Young is one of the North West’s big hitters in the industrial market and we feel that, with his extensive experience and contacts, he can drive our team forward and overtake our rivals.”
