Starr Dance Academy taps into cash donation
A Coxhoe dance school has received a £1,000 fundraising boost from Persimmon Homes Durham.
Starr Dance Academy, was chosen for its community focus and ethos to encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork and friendship through a variety of dance styles.
The cash injection is made from Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which is a national programme to help fund local clubs, groups and good causes. With the funding, teachers hope to provide students with more equipment and music, organise more educational trips and outings to dance events, as well as to undertake more publicity for the school.
Chantelle Knox, a teacher at Starr Dance Academy, said: “Thanks to this generous donation from Persimmon Homes the sky really is the limit for Starr Dance Academy and its talented students!”
Christine Cooper, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Durham, said the Community Champions scheme was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company builds new homes.
She said: “We are delighted to support Starr Dance Academy as we know that funding can be difficult to source, so it’s fantastic that we can offer our financial assistance. We were very impressed with their application and the work that they do to help young people in their community.”
The Persimmon Community Champions scheme is a national programme where clubs, groups and good causes can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company has donated a total of £1 million.
Christine continued: “It couldn’t be any easier to apply for funding and we are now calling for people to apply for next month’s allocation by completing a form at persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
