Fashion brand Superdry will relocate to accommodate JD Sports’ move

JD Sports reveals plans for 40,000 sq ft flagship store at Liverpool ONE

Sports fashion retailer JD is moving into an upsized regional flagship store in Liverpool.

The company’s new 40,000 sq ft shop, located on Paradise Street within Liverpool ONE, is twice as large as its existing city centre store.

To accommodate JD Sports’ move, fashion brand Superdry will relocate to a 10,000 sq ft unit on Liverpool ONE’s South John Street.

JD is one of a number of brands to expand on Paradise Street in recent months.

Indie fashion retailer 7Liverpool launched at Liverpool ONE in November with a 1,200 sq ft shop. Last month, US cosmetics firm Urban Decay made its Merseyside debut with a new boutique store.

Miles Dunnett from Grosvenor Europe, which owns Liverpool ONE, commented: “We are delighted to have been able to create this prime location for JD Sports on Liverpool ONE’s Paradise Street.

“The significantly larger store reinforces Liverpool ONE’s position as one of the leading retail and leisure destinations in the UK with a line-up of UK and international brands that is second to none.”

JD Sports’ group acquisitions manager, Warren Thompson, said: “Liverpool ONE is a key location for JD so we are very pleased to be opening a new flagship store on Paradise Street.

“The additional space will allow us to create something quite spectacular, combining the very best mix of brands and product lines with an outstanding experience for our customers.”

In September, Bury-headquartered JD Sports Fashion Plc posted double-figure profit and revenue growth for the 26 weeks to July 30 2016, with profits for the period hitting £77.4m.

Property firms Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors represented Liverpool ONE in the deal, while JD Sports and Superdry dealt direct.

JD’s new flagship store will open later this year.
