Ryanair launches nine new routes from London Stansted
Budget airline Ryanair has launched nine new routes from London Stansted after agreeing a new growth deal with the airport’s owners, Manchester Airports Group (MAG).
The new route include daily routes to Naples and Nice, a three times daily service to Copenhagen, four flights a week to Nimes in Southern France, three a week to Beziers and Cagliari, two a week to Clermont and Strasbourg, and three flights a week to Grenoble.
The budget carrier has also unveiled extended services to 13 of its existing routes from the South East airport, including expanded services to Biarritz, Bordeaux and Marseille.
Launching in the summer, Ryanair said its expanded presence at Stansted would carry over 20m per year.
Following confirmation of the new routes, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer David O’Brien said: “Having grown our London Stansted traffic from 13.2m in 2013 to over 20m this year, this new deal will allow Ryanair to continue to expand our route network at Stansted, our largest European base.”
Divisional Chief Executive Officer at London Stansted, Andrew Cowan added: “Today’s announcement by Ryanair is fantastic news for Stansted Airport and passengers from across the east of England and London.
“Ryanair is an important and valued partner for us at Stansted and we’re delighted to support the airline’s exciting expansion plans for the summer, which will help ensure Stansted remains one of the UK’s fastest growing airports and see us serve well over 25 million passengers a year within the next 12 months.”
