Deal struck for new rugby league club following Bradford Bulls’ liquidation
A new Bradford rugby league club will be launched in time for the start of next season after a deal was struck by the Rugby Football League.
This comes just weeks after former Super League champions Bradford Bulls were liquidated due to financial issues.
According to BBC, the new deal was agreed with Andrew Chalmers, former chairman of New Zealand Rugby League and former director at Salford Red Devils.
It is also believed that former Wigan and New Zealand coach Graham Lowe is part of the successful bid.
This same group previously presented a rescue deal to save Bradford Bulls, which received approval for the RFL. However, it was later rejected by the administrator.
The new club is expected to start in the Kingstone Press Championship with a 12-point deduction.
The Rugby Football League are expected to officially announce the new deal shortly.
