Sales up 58% at North Tyneside security firm Securiclad

North Tyneside-based Securiclad, a manufacturer of high security modular panel systems, has reported a 58% sales rise for 2016 after securing a raft of major contracts.

The firm said that, due to its modular design, its certified panel systems offer a more flexible, sustainable physical security solution than traditional building methods.

According to the business, this resulted in increased demand for its systems among data centres, utilities providers and other organisations vulnerable to terrorist attack.

Last year, the firm partnered with data centre and server room specialist INFINITI. The Oxfordshire-based company has to date used Securiclad’s panels in a number of data centre projects, including a structure built to protect a Ministry of Defence data centre.

Securiclad also extended its international reach in 2016. Panel systems from Securiclad were employed by international security specialist Burton Safes as part of a security solution for Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited – a Hong Kong-based company that provides high-end safe deposit box facilities to businesses and private individuals in the Far East.

Securiclad can also be used in new buildings or retro-fitted to an existing site and is pre-finished, negating the need for hot and wet trade requirements.

The modular panel systems have both internal and external applications and can be used to form a standalone ‘room’, kiosk or partition.

Mike McColl, managing director of Securiclad, said: “Government organisations, utilities companies, infrastructure providers and many other businesses are becoming increasingly aware of the need for hardened physical security, a ‘last line of defence’ to prevent unauthorised access by terrorists, thieves and vandals – and are requiring this to be incorporated into the design stages of new projects, or to be easily added in order to reinforce security in existing structures.”

Manufactured at the company’s 46,000 sq ft facility in North Tyneside, Securiclad’s systems are delivered across the UK and abroad.

Mike added: “Our modular panel systems have been designed to be used in multiple scenarios where high security is paramount, and the increased demand for our products demonstrates that many organisations now view traditional building measures, such as brick and concrete, as too weak or disruptive for their requirements, and see physical security certification as an important factor in making a purchasing decision.”
