500th anniversary of Reformation: Maritim Hotels

Maritim Hotels, Germany’s leading family owned hotel group, is set to welcome meetings with religious groups and associations from across the world this year as part of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg, effectively beginning the Protestant Reformation.

Maritim Hotels has launched special packages enabling business and leisure visitors alike to ‘follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther’. In particular, hotels in Magdeburg, Berlin, and Nuremberg are set to be the ideal epicentres for Luther enthusiasts.

The Hotel Maritim Magdeburg is located in the regional capital of Saxony-Anhalt in the former East Germany). Adding local Luther power to its well appointment meetings spaces, dining and accomodations, the hotel will organise walking tours of the Fürstenwall promenade, and the Walloon and St John’s Churches allowing people to follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther.

Visits to the Magdeburg Cultural History Museum will also be offered, where Maritim meeting goers can experience their unique historical art collection and learn about Magdeburg’s special place in the history of German Protestantism - brought vividly to life in the exhibition “Gegen Kaiser und Papst” (Against Emperor and Pope).

In addition, Maritim’s two Berlin properties – Maritim Hotel Berlin & Berlin proArte will host meetings and guests for tours around the German Historical Museum’s exhibition “The Luther Effect. 500 Years of the Reformation”, as well as visits to the Wilhelm Memorial Church, the symbolic center of West Berlin. Meanwhile in Nuremberg, the 1st town to accept the Reformation in 1525, the Maritim Hotel Nuremberg is the perfect base for those who want to learn why Martin Luther called this beautifully preserved medieval city “the eyes and ears of the Reformation.”

LeRoy Sheppard, Maritim Director of Sales UK & Ireland, explains: “We always want to ensure our meeting and event guests have a great experience across our 34 properties in Germany. This year is no exception, and we look forward to helping our guests to celebrate this major moment in history and discover more about the enduring figure of Luther and his world-changing work.”

The Maritim Hotelgesellschaft is Germany’s largest owner-managed hotel group with 33 properties across Germany as well as hotels in Mauritius, Egypt, Turkey, Malta, Spain and China.
