Housebuilder funds market stall for children's charity
A children’s charity helping disadvantaged children across East Yorkshire is set to launch its first permanent market stall to boost funds.
The announcement comes after Chipmunks Children’s Charity received a donation of £500 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, as part of the housebuilder’s Community Champions initiative.
The charity will have a regular pitch at Withernsea indoor market, enabling them to sell second-hand goods all year round.
Robert Bragger, founder of Chipmunks was delighted with the donation. He said: “This is a huge boost to our fundraising efforts.”
Launched in 2013, by Robert and his wife Sally, the charity provides a grant giving process, receiving applications from families and charitable causes across the region. Through its fundraising activity Chipmunks helps funds children holidays, days out and contributes to much needed sporting equipment.
Robert added: “Persimmon’s donation will cover the rental cost of the stall enabling us to sell donated items all year round. This is will make a huge boost to our ongoing fundraising efforts as previously this was only something we could do in the summer months.”
The Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative invites groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves to apply for match-funding of up to £1,000 by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
Chipmunks Children’s charity was chosen by the Yorkshire housebuilder as it supports many disadvantaged children and causes in the various communities where the company builds, as Kevin Thubron, head of Sales at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire explained.
He said: “We are currently building in Hornsea and Kingwood Park in Hull, so were delighted to receive an application from Chipmunks. We wish them lots of success in their new fundraising venture.”
To apply for Community Champions funding groups and charities are asked to complete an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
Persimmon Homes Yorkshire is currently building in several locations across the region, including Hull, Doncaster, Easingwold, Selby and Scunthorpe. The housebuilder is also working towards future sites in Harrogate, Fulford and Pickering. For more information visit: www.persimmonhomes.com
