Rugby centre set for 2017 completion
A new state-of-the-art rugby centre on derelict playing fields in Edgbaston is on target for completion at the end of 2017.
In partnership with Bournville Rugby Club, Persimmon Homes Central is developing the purpose built rugby facility on the former Avery and M&B recreation grounds in the Summerfield area of the city.
It will comprise a new pavilion, 3G all weather sports pitch and two further grass pitches.
In addition to the sports facilities, Persimmon has created 116 much needed new homes at its Avery Fields development off City Road, where a brand new show home was recently launched.
Neil Williams, Director in Charge at Persimmon Homes Central said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Bourneville RFC on this project to deliver a new rugby facility at Sandon Road.
“The scheme has been planned over a number of years working closely with Birmingham City Council’s planning team, and we look forward to seeing the project completed by late 2017.
“Persimmon currently owns the Sandon Road site but will transfer it to Bournville RFC, together with a financial package to develop the new facility, once the project is complete.”
Persimmon was also behind a new training facility at Warwickshire County Cricket Club as part of its development of the former M&B Cape Hill Brewery Site.
Avery Fields offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and two bedroom apartments on City Road in Birmingham, conveniently close to the city’s cosmopolitan and vibrant centre. The development is ideally situated and offers easy commuting with excellent road, rail and motorway links.
Prices at the development start from just £149,995, and there are a number of schemes available to help you move, including Help to Buy and Home Change.
