Moondog Books launches Ebookadabra
UK publishing technology company Moondog Books, has today announced the launch of its children’s eBook platform, Ebookadabra, hot on the heels of new research showing that supported and structured screen time can help children learn.
The brand-new one-stop solution for reading and learning is aimed at young families and will help children aged 3-7 years discover a whole world of distinct and diverse children’s books. With early bird subscriptions available for just 99p a month, regular subscriptions will cost £5.99 a month and will allow unlimited access to Ebookadabra for parents and up to four children on any number of devices. Ebookadabra is available on Apple iPad and iPhone for now in the UK with Android devices to follow in 2017.
Families can explore the extensive library, message each other, post reviews and record audio books. When they read books, children are rewarded with stickers to collect and access to educational games. Parents can use the platform to see what their children are up to in Ebookadabra and can message with them, sending audio messages, images, book recommendations and audio versions of books.
The Ebookadabra library is constantly growing, and new stickers, games, themes and avatars are added regularly to keep Ebookadabra a fresh and engaging world of reading. Leading book publishers already featured in Ebookadabra include Disney, Harper Collins, Bloomsbury, Parragon, Oxford University Press and Little Tiger Press.
“Ebookadabra is designed to be a fun and rewarding reading experience for kids which parents can feel good about,” says Co-Founder Tom Grayson.” We are convinced that high-quality digital experiences like Ebookadabra will increase reading and book discovery. We don’t say it’s the only way that kids can enjoy stories but we do think it is crucial new digital ingredient in getting kids to read.”
Research published by the American Academy of Pediatrics supports this view suggesting that “parents and caregivers [need to] develop a family media plan that takes into account the health, education and entertainment needs of each child as well as the whole family.”
