Anytime Fitness will aim to open a further 200 health clubs in 2017

International fitness brand to launch 7,500 sq ft gym at Flemingate Shopping Centre

Global health club brand Anytime Fitness is set to launch its first gym in East Yorkshire at Flemingate Shopping Centre, Beverley.

The site chosen for the club, a 7,500 sq ft first-floor unit with an entrance on the ground floor, will benefit from an investment of over £500k in new gym equipment and a fit-out.

Anytime Fitness at Flemingate will comprise an exercise class studio along with communal workout areas. The changing rooms, meanwhile, will feature individual shower cubicles.

The club will further aim to enhance the user experience by remaining open 24 hours a day and putting a cap on membership numbers.

The owner of the Anytime Fitness franchise at Flemingate, Neel Sodha, believes the venue will be the largest and best-equipped gym for miles around.

He said: “This will be a club, not just a gym, and it will have a club community.

“It will be a place where the staff will go out of their way to get to know the members and make them feel welcome. It will be a place where members can make friends and take part in social events.”

Neel added: “For example, we’re looking to tie-up with Flemingate’s Parkway Cinema to organise cinema nights for members.”

When it opens in May, it is hoped the health club will enhance Flemingate’s appeal as a retail and leisure destination.

The venue has welcomed a number of new brands in recent months, including retailers Superdrug, Outfit, River Island and Starbucks.

In 2017, Anytime Fitness will aim to add a further 200 health clubs to its growing international portfolio.

Earlier this week, the company revealed plans to turn a former nightclub in Macclesfield into itslatest Cheshire opening.
