How cheese boards and glass tunnels will help Tottenham Hotspur claw back £750m stadium costs

Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur have unveiled some of the high-end hospitality packages for its new stadium, with Michelin-star quality food, cheese boards and a one-way view into the team tunnel all on offer for deep-pocketed Spurs fans.

The plans are set to be some of the glitziest hospitality packages offered by any Premier League club or perhaps any club in the world, with options ranging from £89 per game premium seating to its top-end ‘H Club’ which comes with a £15,000 membership fee.

Meanwhile, another premium option gives fans the opportunity to indulge in a range of cheeses in specially constructed cheese rooms at half-time.

In addition, tickets for the North London club’s innovative glass tunnel, which will allow 104 fans to see directly into the player’s tunnel, will cost around £9,500 each and must be bought in pairs.

While the lavish hospitality packages will likely have purists up in arms over their betrayal of football’s working class roots, the ‘prawn sandwich brigade’, as Roy Keane famously dubbed them back in 2000, have long been a cash cow for Premier League clubs looking to fill their coffers.

In total, 7,000 of the 61,000 seats at Tottenham’s new stadium will be reserved for premium and corporate hospitality guests, representing over 10% of the stadium’s total capacity, and will be a key long-term strategy for recouping some of the enormous costs associated with the club’s move.

By comparison, fellow London rivals Arsenal currently carry 9,361 seats across its premium and corporate levels while fellow title challengers Liverpool increased their number of corporates to 7,000 as part of their recent Anfield expansion.

Combined with the expansive corporate options on offer, Spurs are still rumoured to be looking for a corporate sponsor for their new stadium, which is set to open in 2018, with sources suggesting the club is looking for partnerships in the region of £400m.
