Consett manufacturing business takes on 15 new staff following major contract
Consett manufacturing firm Lamplas has created 15 new jobs after securing a long term contract with Swift Group, a manufacturer of caravans, holiday homes and motorhomes.
Lamplas, which develops GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and solid surface moulders, has over 40 years’ experience working predominantly in the leisure vehicle market and commercial vehicle sector.
The contract with Swift marks a significant step in Lamplas’s journey as a North East firm increasing its reputation in the UK’s holiday home market.
Keith Siddle, Operations Director, explained: “This is a great contract for Lamplas as it builds on our success in supplying shower cubicles into the holiday home market, we have been able to recruit great local people, we have made 5 internal promotions, and we’re taking on another apprentice.
“We have also just secured a further contract to supply shower cubicles into another holiday home manufacturer, commencing summer 2017 and will be looking to recruit further employees over the coming months.”
Andrea McGuigan, Business Development Manager for Business Durham, added “Business Durham has been working closely with Lamplas for a number of years and we are delighted to hear their good news.
“The company has continued to innovate and develop new products and they deserve the success they have achieved.
“We will continue to support them in the future and look forward to the next year ahead.”
