UK’s first new-look Costcutter now open for business in Darfield
The UK’s first new-look Costcutter convenience store has been officially opened in the South Yorkshire village of Darfield.
Owned by Ron and Yvonne Ford, the new 2800 sq ft store is located on Upperwood Road and features a brand new store design.
The new store offers an extensive range of convenience products including food-to-go, a selection of fresh food and chilled produce, beers, wines and spirits and locally sourced products.
The opening of the store has also created 10 new jobs, with staff employed from the local area.
To celebrate the launch, Costcutter store owners, Ron and Yvonne, brought in cricket umpire Dickie Bird OBE to officially open the store.
Ron, who also owns four other Costcutter stores across the Barnsley area, said: “When designing this store we worked hard to identify the needs of the local community and to offer not just the products they want, but a fantastic shopping experience.
“As the first new-look Costcutter store, we’re really looking forward to wowing customers with our fresh look and feel and can’t wait to see their reaction.”
The Darfield store is the first new look Costcutter store and forms part of a brand transformation programme.
Jenny Wilson, customer director of Costcutter Supermarkets Group Customer, commented: “We announced the new look Costcutter brand to our retailers in October so opening the first store just three months later is a significant milestone.
“The launch of the new brand is part of a wider programme to enable our retailers to respond to the specific shopping needs of their local community by developing a truly local offer that attracts new shoppers into their store.
“Ron and Yvonne own a number of Costcutter stores across the region and I believe the Darfield store will build on the success of their other stores.”
