Jobs at risk as Leeds construction companies appoint administrators
On 20th January 2017, Nick Reed and Bob Maxwell of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators of Drawn Metal Limited and DML Architectural Systems Limited in Leeds.
The construction companies have over 90 years’ manufacturing experience and are specialist suppliers of facades and shopfronts.
Clients include Calvin Klein, Ferrari and Lacoste and the companies supply several of the UK’s largest main contractors including Laing O’Rourke, Kier Construction and Balfour Beatty.
The companies have also worked on a number of major projects such as Trinity Leeds, Scottish Parliament Building, Victoria Gate in Leeds, as well as St James’s Gateway in London, the O2 Arena and Stratford Station.
Drawn Metal provides bespoke facades and shopfronts; and DML Architectural Systems specialises in external facades, unitised, curtain walling, windows, brise soleil, louvres and cladding.
Last year, the two companies had a combined turnover of £8.7m. Drawn Metal employs 70 staff at its manufacturing facilities in Swinnow Lane, Bramley.
Drawn Metal Holdings Limited, an associated company, is not in administration.
Joint administrator Nick Reed said: “Having traded since 1924, DML has become known as a leading name in facades, particularly for the retail sector, but, unfortunately, losses on a significant out of town contract has resulted in the directors appointing administrators.
“We are in the process of assessing the situation in order to achieve the best possible outcome for creditors and the 70 strong workforce.
“The companies have an excellent reputation and we are seeking interest in the business and assets.”
