Help for Charities struggling with Financial Red Tape

As more and more charities are recognising the need for expert financial guidance, award-winning 360 Chartered Accountants has decided to devote its next Saturday morning surgery to helping those struggling with what can be a financial minefield.

The Hull and East Yorkshire-based firm says many charities try hard to cope with the different types of financial reporting required, but fall short of the complicated regulations without expert guidance.

Sophie Holmes, 360’s charities specialist, said that it’s vital for charities, no matter their size, to get the right advice.

“We would like to see anyone thinking about setting up a charity or anyone involved in an existing charity that is growing who is worried about the extra red tape involved. It may be, for instance, someone who is unclear about their obligations as a trustee.

“As a result of our expertise, we have developed an extensive portfolio of charities and we see time and time again the worries and stresses they face.”

Andy Barber, Charity Director for the Hull and East Yorkshire Smile Foundation, said:

“It’s increasingly hard to balance the books as a charity and provide sustainability or growth to meet the needs of your beneficiaries no matter how valuable your work is. At 360 they offer straightforward honest guidance helping you make an informed decision with your head as well as your heart. Above all we enjoy working with their team who are incredibly approachable.

“We have been extremely grateful for their support. They have been increasingly helpful as we have looked to develop Smile, providing further resources to our community. We try to maximise the skills and resources in local businesses. With 360 they have helped not only us, but also many of the organisations we have been supporting.”

The 360 “Saturday Morning Surgery” Charities Workshop will take place on Saturday 4th February 2017 at 360’s headquarters on Albion Street in Hull. Experts will be on hand to discuss any issue involving charities, including the latest developments in UK Charity Law, application of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), strategic planning and compliance as well as VAT, Gift Aid procedures and funding. There’s no need to make an appointment. Anyone wanting to pop in for a chat and a croissant can simply drop by between 9am and 12 noon.

They will also be the first to receive 360’s new Charity Kit which is being launched on the same day.
