GradBoss set to reduce skills shortages in IT

Computing students from throughout West Yorkshire are once again taking advantage of a rare opportunity to network with technology professionals from the likes of Sky, Jet2, Morrisons, Research Bods and Capita at GradBoss.

GradBoss is a free award winning networking event for university students approaching graduation or seeking a work placement and prospective employers in IT. The event will take place on Tuesday 28 February 2017 from 6.00 – 8.30pm in central Leeds.

Following the last GradBoss event, Dinuka Palihawadana, Computing student at Leeds Beckett University said:

“I have great news! I have been offered a placement at Hermes to be a Software Tester!

“Thank you again for inviting me along to the GradBoss event.”

GradBoss has been recognised nationally by The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) for increasing the employability prospects of local students and reducing the skills shortages in the IT jobs market.

Jonathan Sanderson, GradBoss Host and Managing Director at IT Recruitment Company Corecom Consulting said:

“From 2013 to 2015, the number of skill shortages in IT tripled. This is versus an increase of 50% in the number of employer vacancies within the Leeds City Region. As the economy continues to develop, employers are finding it increasingly challenging to recruit people with the required skills.

“GradBoss aims to reduce this skills shortage. It’s is a terrific opportunity for students from Bradford, Leeds, York and Hull universities to network with, gain advice from and to take part in a live Q&A session with some of the best in tech.”

A CV Clinic will be in operation throughout the evening so students can bring theirs along for review with an expert advisor.
