Boge Compressors eyes 50% turnover boost with move to Huddersfield's Park Valley Business Park

Boge Compressors, the manufacturer of industrial air compressors, has relocated to Park Valley Business Park in Huddersfield in a bid to boost turnover by 50% over the next four years.

Previously based at Brighouse, the company has taken three brand-new industrial units, totalling 12,750 sq ft, at the 13-acre business park at Lockwood.

This latest announcement means that Phase Three of the major regeneration of the Park Valley site is now fully let.

The business park, which is owned by Holmfirth Dyers, features 18 brand-new industrial units with office and storage space and superfast fibre optic broadband.

Park Valley Business Park had previously been derelict for many years, with buildings falling into disrepair. Now the revamped site off Meltham Road in Lockwood is creating new jobs and regenerating the area.

Altogether more than 125 new jobs have been created on site.

Mark Whitmore, general manager at Boge, said: “We needed to move to realise our vision of growing our business revenues by 50% over the next four years.

“Our old premises were no longer fit for purpose as our business model has changed radically since the business moved into them 30 years before.

“The buildings were tired, with the layout being dysfunctional. The cost of upgrade was prohibitive, with no real scope to develop them from a planning permission point of view to get the layout we need now and for the future. Also, our future testing power requirement could not be met at the current premises.

“We decided on Park Valley Business Park as the shell construction of the three units was a blank canvas for us to construct the layout we need for our business now, with scope to expand our operations further.

“The standard of construction and finishes is very high and our increased testing power requirements could be met. Our 26 staff all love the green, leafy and quiet environment. From a security point of view the layout of the business park, with access-controlled gates and 24/7 surveillance, is excellent.”

Martin Duckett, Holmfirth Dyers managing director Martin Duckett explained that work on Phase Four of the development, which comprises 14,000 sq ft, has been completed with all four units already under offer. The units will be available for immediate occupation on completion.
