Hendersons move into top gear with cycling jersey

Hendersons (Sheffield) Ltd, makers of Yorkshire’s iconic Henderson’s Relish, has launched a limited-edition Henderson’s Relish cycling jersey, in tandem with performance clothing producer Foska.com.

Cycling fans of Henderson’s Relish petitioned Foska to design a jersey framing their favourite spicy sauce. Now available for pre-order, the jersey is designed for touring, training, racing and commuting.

Matt Davies, General Manager of Hendersons, commented: “The limited-edition cycling jersey gives terrific visibility – both for the Henderson’s Relish brand, and our cycling fans. Hendo’s is pleased to bring fun and flavour to the latest cycling fashion”.

London-based Foska co-founder Neill Keen revealed “the interest so far in the limited-edition Henderson’s Relish cycling jersey has been phenomenal”.

The new limited-edition Henderson’s Relish cycling jerseys are now available for pre-order at Foska.com, priced at £48.95.

It was Henry Henderson who first began manufacturing his own special type of sauce back in the latter part of the 19th century. Originally manufactured at 35 Broad Lane in Sheffield, Henderson’s Relish is still being made and was in uninterrupted production within half a mile of the site from which the first bottle was filled until the move to a new food production factory in 2013.

The company was bought by Shaws of Huddersfield in 1910 who still supply Henderson’s with vinegar. In 1940 Charles Hinksman formed the present company of Hendersons (Sheffield) Ltd., the control of which has remained with the family. Kenneth Freeman, the nephew of the late Charles Hinksman, became the Managing Director and Chairman in 1991 and has overseen many important changes in the company’s profile. His wife Pamela Freeman is now the Managing Director.

Henderson’s Relish is still being blended to the original secret recipe of Henry Henderson. The recipe remains a secret only known to three family members.
