Team behind India’s biggest food festival launch tapas venue in Fitzrovia
Indian tapas restaurant, Lokhandwala, has opened its doors in Fitzrovia helmed by the team behind one of India’s biggest food festivals.
The eatery has launched on Charlotte Street, serving up a menu of Indian small plates to patrons as well as vegan shots and smoothies incorporating elements from centuries-old Indian health and well-being recipes.
Heading up the new central London restaurant is a team drawn from the same people behind Mumbai’s The Grub Fest, touted as India’s biggest food festival the event brings together the country’s best up and coming chefs.
For their first London venue, the team have developed a tapas menu that includes traditional Indian dishes such 24 hour marinated lamb chops, Gujju Vaal Daal Chaat, which is a tossed dish of broad bean, lentils and black pulses, along with contemporary servings such as potato skins filled with sea bass.
Along with the main 36-cover restaurant on the ground floor, the venue also hosts ‘The Hot House’ cocktail bar at its rear as well as a ‘speakeasy’ and outside terrace on the first floor, all adorned with decor inspired by the story of Lady Charlotte, a noblewoman who falls in love with a man named Vijay during her travels through Mumbai.
Lokhandwala is open now at 93 Charlotte Square, Fitzrovia.
