Kids' cookery workshops at intu this half-term!
Mini Mary Berrys and pint-sized Paul Hollywoods can get their creative cooking juices flowing at free workshops taking place at intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre this half term.
The shopping centres are running the daily cookery workshops for children during half term after asking local families how they most wanted to fill their free time.
Cookery was chosen by classmates of intu Metrocentre’s Heads of Fun Esther, age 10, a pupil at Lumley Junior School, and Logan, age 7, a pupil at Pittington Primary School – who are tasked with keeping the shopping centre fun and child friendly. The theme was also selected by intu’s nationwide shopper view panel, made up of customers at its 14 centres up and down the country, who were polled on the activities they’d most like their children to take part in during the school holidays.
Both centres have a host of fun activities in store for budding north east cooks. At intu Eldon Square children are invited to join Professor Sproutorium and his ‘cooky’ assistant Doctor Brussels for foodie fun in their crazy laboratory. Free weird and wonderful workshops will encourage the little chefs to whip up edible worm farms, volcano cookies and magnificent muffin concoctions.
The fun continues over at intu Metrocentre where a wide range of foodie arts and crafts will be taking place, including biscuit decorating, comedy chef demonstrations and taste testing with the Metrognomes. There will even be the chance to whizz up a tasty smoothie using the pedal power of the Smoothie Bike.
Karen Carr, regional marketing manager, intu north, said: “More than 70 per cent of our guests have young families so we’ll be helping them make the most of half term with the opportunity for children to leave the centre having cooked up amazing treats or picked up a new skill they can try again at home.
“intu Metrocentre’s talented Heads of Fun helped us to come up with the theme that we hope will put a smile on the face of every little chef in our centres this half term. It’s just one example of the compelling activities we run in our centres all year round made possible thanks to invaluable insight from our customers.”
