Meet the personal beauty service that closed the biggest beauty-related raise on Crowdcube
Personal beauty shopping service, MyShowcase, is hoping to grow its platform of stylists and product range on the back of its record-breaking seven-figure crowdfunding raise.
The London-based platform recently raised over £1m on Crowdcube, making it the highest-ever raise by a beauty business on Crowdcube and the first £1m funding on the platform this year.
With backing from over 390 investors, the business exceeded its initial £750k target by over a third, with a significant proportion of investments driven by its community of stylists who operate on the platform.
Billed as a ‘personal beauty shopping service’, the platform helps users discover new beauty products through its community of stylists, stocking independent brands selected by Co-Founder and beauty editor Kate Shapland.
MyShowcase has said it will utilise the million-pound funding to drive recruitment of more independent beauty brands onto its platform, as well as enhancing the business’ marketing and technology operations.
Nancy Cruickshank, Founder and Chief Executive Officer commented: “MyShowcase is one of the UK’s fastest growing startups and we are certain that we wouldn’t be where we are today without our fabulous community. Crowdfunding enabled us to truly open our doors and involve them.
“We cannot wait to execute our ambitious growth plans, hand-in-hand with the MyShowcase network.”
