Discounted Homes For Standish House Hunters

First time buyers in Standish are being given a helping hand onto the property ladder with a 27% discount on new homes at Countryside’s Barrowcroft Green development.

The home builder is offering the discount through Wigan Council’s affordable homes scheme, providing house hunters with the opportunity to buy selected properties at the village location on Rectory Lane. Two of the discounted homes have already been reserved off-plan.

To apply for the discount, buyers must either live, work or have family connections within the Wigan Borough. Former members of the armed forces who are returning to the borough will also qualify under the council’s criteria.

Peter Vella, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at Countryside, commented: “Barrowcroft Green is the first development within the area to adopt the council’s new affordable housing initiative. This will provide an exciting opportunity for buyers, with a connection to the area, to achieve their homeownership dreams at a discounted price.

“Barrowcroft Green is located in a highly desirable part of the borough and we have already spoken with a number of young families who are eager to take advantage of this new housing initiative.”

When purchasing a home using the discount, only a 5% deposit is required. This means that buyers would only need to secure a 68% mortgage on their new home, as the remaining 27% of the property’s value would be discounted through the council.

Once complete, Barrowcroft Green will comprise 113 luxury three, four and five bedroom homes.
