Mobile private jet marketplace backed by Jay-Z launches in London

US mobile jet marketplace JetSmarter has this week launched in the UK offering private air travel from London to a raft of international routes, including New York, Moscow and Riyadh.

Servicing a network of major cities, including Los Angeles, Dubai, Milan, Zurich and Geneva, the app claims to offer private jet travel to over 170 countries by connecting users with idle jets and unused seats around the world.

Offering flights for both business and leisure travellers, the app also has its own JetShuttle service where customers can book onto scheduled shuttle routes up to two months in advance.

The service does not come cheap, however, with an initial ‘core’ one year membership weighing in at $15,000, giving members access to a selection of free seats on selected routes, with the option of paying for companion seats for non-members.

The launch of its UK arm, based out of its London office, is set to kick start more aggressive expansion across the continent, with plans to add a further 80 routes to the service by the end of this year.

Following its UK launch, founder Sergey Pertrossov, commented: “With Europe being one of our strongest markets, we look forward to investing more time focusing on JetSmarter’s growth within this region.

“Throughout 2017, our expansion plans will allow for European members to have access to travel to more regions across Asia and India, as well as the Middle East.”

Petrossov, who was named as one of Forbes 30 Under 30 last year, founded the company back in 2013 where it has grown out of its Fort Lauderdale base.

Back in December the business raised a massive $105m Series C round from new and existing investors, including the Saudi royal family and Jay-Z, which placed a $1.5bn pre-money valuation on the company.
