DV8 Designs appointed by The Mere Collection

A renowned Warrington based interior design and architecture firm has been appointed by The Mere Collection to work alongside the management team to spearhead the redesign and refurbishment of the much-loved Cheshire icon, The Stanneylands, Wilmslow.

Headed by Managing Director Lee Birchall, DV8 Designs will be responsible for aligning the vision of the new ‘best of British dining destination with rooms’ concept, which is set to be popular amongst the local neighbourhood as well as the region.

As part of the internal and external refurbishment of the classic Cheshire institution, a series of renovations will transform the country house into an elegant boutique hideaway ideal for celebrations, dining and drinking. Notable design aspects include the introduction of The Tap & Pantry and The Grill, which have been devised for those seeking a fabulous British classic food and drink experience with a twist.

Lee said: “Having been appointed by such prominent figures in Cheshire’s hospitality scene, the team and I are thrilled to have joined forces with owners Mark Boler and Gary Corbett to begin work to bring the exciting new vision to life. While The Stanneylands will take some inspiration from The Mere, given that it is the second property in the hospitality collection, the new Stanneylands will become renowned as a dining destination along with a special events venue. It will capture the very best of modern British and will be complemented by a twist of classic country house décor meets stylish home comforts.

“We have opted for an earthy colour scheme with splashes of mauve, purple and green hues throughout The Tap & Pantry and The Grill. Cosy corners for relaxed drinking and dining will be emphasised with bespoke decorative lighting, warm open fires and log burning stoves to achieve quintessentially British with a twist. The light and airy open-plan pantry area will bring inside the ideals of the traditional garden with rough-sawn timber boarding, planting crates and characteristic country creature artwork. All lit-atmospherically with indoor festoon lighting, alongside stunning birdcages and lanterns filling the double-height space.

“In addition to the interiors, the outside gardens and woodland are also being restored. The scheme offers a rich and varied external area with lavender, yew tree hedges, a feature circular rotunda, topiary and planting borders exploding with all the colours of an English meadow. New decorative twisted metal external seating offers guests the opportunity to comfortably drink and dine alfresco until the sun sets, when the area will become awash with stunning lighting to accent the character of this beautiful building.“

Located in Warrington, DV8 Designs has attained high acclaim through its impressive and diverse portfolio that includes residential, bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, leisure centres, swimming pools, spas, golf clubs and offices.

Mark said: “As part of The Mere Collection, The Stanneylands brand aims to mirror the same established quality, whilst having its own distinctive personality and characteristics. We are very excited to have Lee and the team on board to help us to re-engineer the venue to deliver our vision. The new aspirational brand will act as a lively neighbourhood hotspot for get-togethers amongst families, friends and work colleagues, all the while providing the finest British dining experience with an impeccable service.

“The Stanneylands is the perfect fit to spearhead our ambition to develop and grow The Mere Collection.“
