Builders move in on Treetop attraction at Heaton Park
Construction efforts are now underway on Treetop Trek Ltd’s newest site in the heart of Europe’s biggest municipal park.
The Cumbrian firm is creating a seven-acre treetop adventure attraction at Heaton Park, Manchester, that will feature treetop trampolines, an aerial adventure course and zip wire canopy tours.
According to Treetop Trek, the site will also house the UK’s longest continuous belay ropes course.
It is forecast to create 40 new jobs.
The company’s managing director, Mike Turner, said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to finally be underway with our work on the Heaton Park site and it means we’re now a big step closer to bringing Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets to Manchester.”
Cllr Carl Austin-Behan, the Lord Mayor of Manchester, said of the development: “This is the start of a fantastic project here at Heaton Park. Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets are fun and healthy activities and I believe that once the development has been completed, the local area will feel the benefits both socially and economically.”
Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, Cllr Luthfur Rahman, commented: “This is the start of a fantastic project here at Heaton Park expanding one of the country’s favourite destinations up into the trees themselves.
“Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets are fun and healthy activities and I believe that once the development has been completed, the attraction will be a huge hit with the local community and visitors alike.”
Founded in 2012, today Treetop Trek Ltd operates sites in its Cumbrian heartland and North Yorkshire, having expanded into Ripon last summer.
